Bennett Lane Maximus Chocolate Wine Sauce

November 23rd, 2009

Some thoughts on Bennett Lane’s Maximus Chocolate Wine Sauce. This came into the store today and as a chocolate lover, I had to try it. I ran hot water over the neck of the bottle as it suggested to warm the sauce before drizzling it over some vanilla bean ice cream. The first flavor I got from the sauce was a deep cocoa but dry, almost like a chocolate bar. Then the wine infusion hit and I started to taste the rich merlot.

This is a very full sauce, which I think benefits from the vanilla but I’m very interested in trying it with more dishes soon.

Nice Autumn Days

October 28th, 2009

Today is one of those great days where you want to pretend it’s still summer. There are people rowing on the water and I’m even seeing some short sleeves as people walk by.

Summer drinks are almost out of season, but not quite. I’d still love to sit out on the lawn with a bottle of beer waiting for the grill to warm up. But, I think I’m also a bit more likely to enjoy brisk weather than many.

Instead of the grill tonight, we’re trying a gluten free pizza recipe that should be excellent. A perfect sort of night to start with a good red wine.  After that, I think that it’s going to be some kind of cocktail while we sit down and talk about Kant.  Yes, it’s that kind of night.

A Short Tuesday Update

October 27th, 2009

I’m working on our next email to go out and it’s my birthday. We’re offering what will be an outstanding wine from Australia (Penfolds’ 2005 Grange) and some really cool California and French wines. I’m working to integrate our emails with our website’s shopping cart system so that you can buy more easily.
